How do I remove stains from carpets and fabric without professional cleaning materials?

Type of stain Method of removal
Ball point pen
Methylated spirit and washing-up liquid
Milk
Milton (sterilising solution) and rinse
Red wine
Blot and use white wine and then rinse thoroughly.
Alcohol
Washing up liquid and one part white vinegar to three parts water and rinse thoroughly.
Wax Scrape off when hard. Cover with blotting paper and apply a hot iron on top, then rinse with hot water - but be careful.
Urine Soda water.
Grass Nail polish remover and then rinse with washing up liquid and water.
Blood Add salt to warm water and rinse thoroughly.
Lipstick Nail polish remover and then rinse with washing up liquid and water.
